Terms of Service
Starlight Solutions, Inc. is a Delaware corporation. Using Solar Identity also means agreeing to our corporate Terms of Service and corporate Privacy Policy.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Solar Identity ("the Service"), operated by Starlight Solutions, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("the Company," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our End User License Agreement (EULA). By using Solar Identity, you also agree to Starlight Solutions, Inc.'s corporate Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, available at starsolenterprise.com/terms and starsolenterprise.com/privacy, which govern your relationship with the Company generally. If any conflict arises between these Solar Identity Terms and the corporate terms on matters specific to this Service, these Terms control. If you do not agree to all of these terms, do not use the Service.
Age Requirements
The Service is intended for users 13 years of age and older. Users under 18 must use the Service with parental or guardian consent. By using Solar Identity, users under 18 confirm they have obtained such consent. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or submit biometric data.
Development Status
The Service is under active development. Features may be incomplete, unreliable, or subject to change. We do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or reliability of any functionality. Users will be notified of material changes to the Service architecture.
API Verification Checks
Organizations choose which checks apply to their use case, including liveness, identity documents and age checks. For age checks an organization chooses the method (a face estimate, an ID document, or a face estimate that falls back to an ID document), the minimum age and the confidence level. Organizations cannot change how a check reaches its result, only which checks run, their thresholds and which fields are returned. Face-based age estimates are approximate; an organization that needs certainty about age must use an ID document check.
Screen Mode & Proctoring
Organizations may enable "Screen Mode" for assessments they administer, which can detect tab switches, window focus loss, inactivity, and, if enabled, webcam-based attention/gaze signals during a test session. Test-takers are notified when Screen Mode is active before the session begins. Proctoring signals are provided to the administering organization to assess test integrity; the Company does not independently review this data except as needed to operate or secure the Service.
Accounts & Credits
API usage is metered in credits, purchased through Stripe and consumed per analysis request. Credit pricing is disclosed on the Plans page before purchase. Credits are non-transferable between organizations and, except where required by law, non-refundable once consumed. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API keys secret: a key is shown once at creation and stored only as a hash, so we cannot recover it, and usage incurred by a key is billed to the organization that owns it regardless of who made the request. If you believe a key has been exposed, revoke it in the dashboard immediately. Keys can optionally be scoped to an IP allowlist and given an expiry to limit the damage from exposure.
Subscriptions, Renewal & Cancellation
Subscription plans bill monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically at the then-current price on each billing date until cancelled. The amount, billing interval, and included allowances are shown on the Plans page before you subscribe, and the confirmation you receive at checkout restates them. You may cancel at any time from the billing portal linked in your dashboard; cancellation stops future renewals and your plan continues until the end of the period already paid for. We do not pro-rate or refund a partial month except where the law requires it. If a renewal payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend plan benefits until payment succeeds. If we change a plan's price, we will give notice before it takes effect on your next renewal so you can cancel first.
Refunds
Credits are refundable only while unused, at our discretion, and only where no part of the purchase has been consumed. Subscription fees for a period already begun are non-refundable except where required by law. Nothing in this section limits any statutory right of withdrawal, cancellation, or refund you have under the consumer law of your own jurisdiction, which applies regardless of what this section says. To request a refund, contact help@starsolenterprise.com.
No Diagnostic or Professional Use
The Service provides heuristic and model-based analysis of biometric and personality data. All results — including attractiveness scores, age estimates, body composition estimates, and personality trait assessments — are approximations. These results are NOT medical, psychological, immigration, or legal advice, and verification-check pass/fail results are not a substitute for legally required identity verification where a higher standard applies. Only qualified professionals can diagnose personality disorders or provide clinical assessments. Solar Identity does not offer, and this Service does not include, ethnicity, race, or accent/national-origin classification of any kind.
Backend Integrations & Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services including Stripe (payments), a transactional email provider, and our hosting/database providers. Each integration is governed by its own terms and our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Export Controls & Sanctions
You may not use the Service if you are located in, ordinarily resident in, or organized under the laws of a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you appear on any U.S. government restricted-party list. You agree not to export, re-export, or make the Service available in violation of U.S. export control or sanctions laws.
EULA & License
Your use of the Service is also governed by our End User License Agreement (EULA), incorporated by reference into these Terms. The EULA covers licensing, restrictions on modification, intellectual property rights, and anti-tampering obligations, and now also incorporates the Organization Guidelines above for organization accounts.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that results — including verification-check outcomes — are accurate, reliable, or complete. We disclaim all warranties regarding fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company, its officers, directors, and employees from any claim arising from: your use of the Service; your violation of these Terms; your organization's configuration or use of verification checks; or your infringement of any third party's rights, including the rights of individuals whose biometric data you submit.
Changes to Terms & Service
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date, and organization owners will be notified by email where practicable. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service — or any feature — at any time.
Intellectual Property
Solar Identity, including its design, code, branding, detection models, and content, is the intellectual property of the Company. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission. Feedback you provide may be used by the Company without restriction or compensation.
Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Service. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them freely in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.
Contact
For questions regarding these Terms of Service, contact Starlight Solutions, Inc. at legal@starsolenterprise.com. We usually respond within 3 business days.
Organization Accounts and Obligations
Using the API requires an organization. The person who creates it must have authority to bind it to these Terms and is responsible for its members. Organizations must: use checks only for lawful purposes explained to the people being checked; before any image of a person is captured outside our hosted verification pages, give that person the written notice and obtain the written consent that biometric privacy laws require, and confirm it on each API request; where the GDPR, UK GDPR or similar law requires, offer a way to be verified without biometrics and a way to request human review of an automated decision; where the UK Online Safety Act or similar age-assurance rules apply, choose settings that meet them, for example a higher face-estimate threshold with a document check as the fallback; obtain verifiable parental consent where the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule requires it; configure checks honestly and not use them to discriminate unlawfully; and not try to infer, reverse engineer or get around how a check reaches its result. Where we process personal data for an organization we act as its processor or service provider, and the data processing agreement available on request forms part of these Terms. Breaching these obligations is a material breach of these Terms and the EULA and may lead to immediate suspension.
Acceptable Use and Prohibited Activities
You must not: (a) reverse engineer, decompile or get around the Service's security measures or verification-check logic, except to the extent the law expressly allows despite this restriction; (b) use the Service to harm, harass, stalk, defraud or unlawfully discriminate against anyone; (c) submit images or recordings of a person without the notice and consent the law requires; (d) use bots, scrapers or automated scripts to create accounts, solve human-verification challenges or overload the Service; (e) present photos, screens, masks, deepfakes, virtual cameras, altered documents or anyone else's identity to a check, or modify requests or client code to deceive a check; (f) send requests to our API other than through our published interfaces and documented API; (g) use the Service for any illegal purpose. Breaches may lead to suspension and, where appropriate, legal action.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and by the Federal Arbitration Act. Before starting a claim, please email legal@starsolenterprise.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. If we cannot, any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (or its Commercial Arbitration Rules if you use the Service for a business), and not in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court or seek an injunction to protect intellectual property. Claims may only be brought individually and not as part of a class or representative action, and both parties waive a jury trial. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@starsolenterprise.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Any dispute not subject to arbitration will be heard in the state or federal courts in Delaware. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose consumer law does not allow these terms, this section applies only as far as that law permits, and you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts where you live and to rely on the mandatory consumer protections of that country.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING FROM RELYING ON ANALYSIS OR VERIFICATION RESULTS, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions or limits, so they apply to you only as far as your law allows. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Description of Service
Solar Identity, first released on 1 October 2026, provides liveness and face checks, face-based age estimation, identity document reading, assessments and configurable verification portals for organizations. All analysis runs on the Company's own servers using its own models. API access is metered through account credits or plan allowances, purchased through Stripe.
Security Measures
We protect the Service with server-side checks, signed and encrypted requests, rate limits, human-verification challenges and screening for automated or anonymised traffic. You must not bypass, disable or interfere with these measures, probe the Service for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or submit content intended to deceive a check. Security-relevant activity may be logged as described in the Privacy Policy. If you find a security issue, report it to legal@starsolenterprise.com; we will not pursue good-faith researchers who report promptly, avoid harming users or data, and give us reasonable time to fix the issue before disclosing it.
Suspension, Termination and Appeals
We may suspend or end access where we reasonably believe these Terms or the EULA have been breached, where the law requires it, or where continued access puts the Service or the people it checks at risk. Some protections are automatic, such as rate limits and blocks on automated traffic, and a repeated pattern of security signals on an account can lead to a temporary suspension that lifts on its own; we do not act on an IP address alone. A suspended account can still reach its own account settings. You can appeal any suspension or termination by emailing legal@starsolenterprise.com, and a person will review it. You may close your account at any time. When access ends, sections that by their nature should continue, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and dispute resolution, continue to apply. Unused credits are forfeited if an account is ended for breach, except where the law requires a refund.
Assessment API licence and attribution
Solar Identity grants organisations with an API key a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to run the assessments in the catalog, and to score their own questions, through the Assessment API (/api/assess/v1), for the life of their account and within their plan's monthly allowance. On the Free and Basic plans, any app, website or report that shows a result from the Assessment API must display the attribution returned with the result ("Assessment by Solar Identity") next to the result, with a link to solar.starsolenterprise.com; Growth and higher plans may remove it. On every plan you must not present a result as a clinical, diagnostic, hiring, admissions, credit, insurance or housing decision, or as the work of anyone other than Solar Identity; must tell the people taking an assessment that their answers are processed by Solar Identity; must not resell or sublicense access, cache results to build a competing question bank or scoring model, or copy the generated questions in bulk; and must not try to recover correct answers or scoring parameters. Questions you submit stay yours, and you grant us a licence to store and process them only to provide the service to you. We may suspend a key that breaks these terms under section "Suspension, termination and appeals".
